Exports post 20.74 pc growth in 2000-01
According to the foreign trade data released by the Directorate General of Commercial Intelligence and Statistics, the country's exports in 2000-2001 amounted to $44327.88 million, against $36714.81 million in 1999-2000, registering a growth rate of 20.74 per cent.
The rise is attributed to the rise in exports of chemical and related products, engineering goods and textiles, which account for above half the country's aggregate exports, while other traditional items such as agriculture and allied products and gem and jewellery did not do well.
