Inflation dips to 5.23 pc

The annual inflation rate receded to 5.23 per cent during the week ended June 16, from 5.44 per cent the previous week.

The inflation rate stood at 6.62 per cent during the corresponding week last year. The 0.21 point decline was mainly on account of substantial decline in the prices of magnetite, raw rubber, coconut oil, cotton yarn, texturised yarn, liquid nitrogen, computers and computer based systems. However, primary articles such as urad, eggs, raw wool, sunflower oil and steel ingots became costlier during the week.
