Flights from India cancelled

NEW DELHI, Sept. 11

PASSENGERS travelling from India to the US are likely to face difficulties for some time at least, with the US closing its airspace and Canada reportedly not allowing any detours to the US.

Sources said that all reservations to the US from India stands cancelled. Passengers bound for the US from India would either have to wait in Europe, West Asia or the Far East before being able to connect to their destinations in the US as there are no d irect flights between India and the US as yet.

Meanwhile, those passengers who were due to travel to the US today from Delhi and were calling up the airport to check on flight schedules were being asked to stay put in their homes.

A spokesperson of British Airways said here today that ``all British Airways flights from India to London are operational. However, all our flights from Heathrow and Gatwick airports to the US stands suspended until further information.''
