Corporate
Hardly industrious
Indian industry seems not to have the scale and spread of products and markets to face competition. But it is refreshing that there are, these days, admissions of poor quality, high costs and low productivity by industry captains.

Economy
Fiscal termites
This refers to `Tackling fiscal termites' (Business Line, July 24) in which the author says how termites can destroy an entire house. Education and health, as rightly pointed out, are two main areas where the Government spends more money without any purp oseful results. The huge wastage of public money by Jumbo ministries adds fuel to the fire.

Power
Powerless sector
The Power Ministry's statement that 100 GW of additional generation is likely to take place by 2010 is laudable. What happened to huge power projects that were announced with much fanfare in the last decade?
