Our Bureau
KOCHI, July 15
THE first-ever India International Coir Fair (IICF) will be held here during October 11-13.
IICF is being held to create a platform for sellers and buyers of coir and coir products to meet face-to-face and to discuss various aspects such as consumer preferences, designs, quality and price, according to Mr Christy Fernandez, Chairman, Coir Board
.
At least 100 participants, including importers and major supermarket chain operators, from abroad are expected to participate. The Union Minister of State for Small-Scale Industries, Ms Vijayaraje Scindia, will be chief guest at the inaugural function on
October 11.
During the fair, a seminar would also be organised where experts, industrialists and representatives of foreign and domestic buyers were expected to participate and present their views. Such a fair, insofar as the coir sector is concerned, was being held
for the first time in the country and the board was thinking to making it a biennial affair in the future, he said at a press conference here.
