Record cotton imports despite good crop
DESPITE satisfactory monsoon rains so far and bright prospects for cotton production in the ensuing crop year, cotton import contracts are continuing to be signed. Interestingly, in addition to the estimated arrival of about 20 lakh bales till June, furt her commitment for around 8-10 lakh bales have been made by traders and textile mills.

Q1 gem & jewellery exports down 15 pc
THE exports of gem and jewellery from the country decreased by 15.39 per cent during the first quarter of the current fiscal to $1,446 million as against of $1,709 million during the same period a year ago.
