APL seeks easing of cabotage restrictions
APL (India) Pvt Ltd, the wholly-owned subsidiary of APL Singapore, has urged the Director-General of Shipping, Government of India, to relax the Cabotage restrictions to enable it to undertake its own feeder services on the country's east and west coasts .

Sales tax on ports deferred
THE proposed levy of 5 per cent service tax on port services has been deferred. According to a Union Budget proposal, the levy of the service tax was supposed to take effect from July 1, 2001.
