Economy
Unemployment
Unemployment and under-employment are major problems in India. In `Where have all the jobs gone' (Business Line, June 18), the author, referring to educated unemployment as a pernicious disease, has pointed out that the task of creating employment for th e jobless in India is more onerous than it need be, because most people above poverty line prefer white-collar jobs. The article further says that globalisation makes a difficult problem worse.

Petroleum
Confused Petroleum Ministry?
This refers to the Petroleum Minister, Mr Ram Naik's article `Ethanol and Petrol: A sweet blend' (Business Line, June 21). The Minister is, perhaps, not aware that the sugar mills and petrol pump-wallas are already mixing ethanol in large quantities and making millions.
