Lint prices higher on low arrivals

COIMBATORE, June 12
COTTON lint prices were quoted higher last fortnight as arrivals had stopped or reduced to small lots in most mandis.
In Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan lint prices were easy during this period. Bengal deshi was ruling at Rs 1,020 and Rs 1,200 per maund spot. J-34 saw ginned was being quoted at Rs 1,950 per maund spot.
Lint prices continued to remain firm in Gujarat. V 797 was ruling at Rs 14,200 to Rs 14,400 per candy spot. Good quality of Shankar 6 was quoting at Rs 21,900 per candy spot.
A steady trend prevailed in Madhya Pradesh, though transactions were less. H-4 was ruling at Rs 19,500 and Rs 20,300 per candy spot.
While pirces did not change in Karnataka, a firm tendency prevailed in Andhra Pradesh. MCU5 and MECH were the lots sold in AP and good quality DCH 32 was in demand in Karnataka. Jayadhar (Kar) was ruling between Rs 14,400 and Rs 14,700 per candy spot.
Global cotton prices, however, displayed a weak tendency. Trade sources expect the cotton imports at over 1.8 million bales.
