Global grain trade adverse for India -- USDA projects stagnancy in both markets
EVEN as India is struggling to export 5 million tonnes (mt) of wheat and 3 million tonnes of rice in order to liquidate burgeoning stocks, the world market conditions are far from favourable. While rice prices have reached their recent lows and world ric e trade is unlikely to grow in 2001, a firmness in the global wheat market will be limited by relatively large but declining supplies in major exporting countries.
