Assertive approach needed

V. A. Gopala, e-mail

It is shocking to learn about the BSF jawans killed in the recent border clashes with Bangladesh. Bangladesh's attitude is disturbing, to say the least, especially in light of the fact that the country came into being because of the Indian Army's help.

Even the Farakka dam issue could not be solved amicably. India should assert its position. A soft approach will

definitely demoralise the BSF jawans, in particular, and Indians, in general.
