SER passenger traffic up
THE South Eastern Railway (SER), traditionally the freight carrier of the Indian Railways, during 2000-2001 (up to March 31) carried a record 239.25 million originating passengers, which was 29.23 million more that of last financial year, registering an
increase of 14 per cent. Out of the total originating passengers, the non-suburban passengers' number was 151.28 million, and suburban 87.97 million. SER has thus surpassed the annual target of 151.28 million set by the board for the fiscal under review
by a margin of 9.25 million.
