Tripura annual Plan at Rs 560 cr

NEW DELHI, Feb. 8

THE annual Plan size of Tripura for the next fiscal year has been pegged at Rs 560 crore based on the identifiable resources.

This was agreed on Thursday at a meeting between the Planning Commission Deputy Chairman, Mr K.C.Pant and the State Chief Minister, Mr Manik Sarkar here.

In his initial remarks, Mr. Pant said Tripura should cut administrative expenses and adopt a prudent fiscal policy to mobilise additional resources so that the Central Plan assistance was fully utilised for developmental activities and creation of infras tructure in areas such as communication, roads and power.

He said the Plan panel had approved 10 projects worth Rs 505 crore for funding from Non-Lapsable Central Pool. Funds for eight projects under the scheme have already been released.

The Chief Minister pleaded for Central support in securing more externally aided projects. He said the State had introduced perspective plan for self-sufficiency in food which took into account irrigation, power, seeds, fertilisers and credit facilities .
