UTI net sales up
MUMBAI:DESPITE unfavourable market conditions, Unit Trust of India's (UTI) net sales during the six- month period ending January 2001 were placed at Rs 6,035 crore.
Net sales of the flagship scheme US 64 were at Rs 1,156 crore, nearly twice the Rs 579 crore in the corresponding
period in the July 1999-January 2000.
During the first half of 2000-01, there had been a reduction in repurchases coupled with higher sales resulting
from an overwhelming response from the investors, UTI said in a release here.
The aggregate repurchases up to December 2000 were down by four per cent over last year's aggregate repurchases in the corresponding period.
The number of investors, who joined all UTI schemes from July 1, 2000 till December-end increased by more than 41 per cent, that is from 4.58 lakh in the corresponding period to 6.43 lakh, the release added. --Our Bureau
