SBI gesture
CHENNAI: State Bank of India, Chennai Circle, donated a sum of Rs 5.2 lakh to `Krupa--Dayananda B.D. Goenka Seva Trust', for acquiring a van for transportation of sick and mentally retarded students to hospitals for treatment.
At a function organised here, Mr B.Ramachandra Rao, Chief General Manager, SBI Chennai Circle, observed that SBI was the only bank which spendt one per cent of its net profit on ``community services banking''.
In 1999-2000, SBI Chennai Circle donated Rs 60 lakh to various charitable institutions, apart from activities such as blood donation camps, medical camps and sports events for the handicapped. -- Our Bureau
