Dahej chemical port opening tomorrow

Our Bureau

NEW DELHI, Jan. 23

THE country's first liquid chemical port at Dahej in Gujarat will be inaugurated on January 25 by the Union Minister of Shipping, Mr Arun Jaitley.

The Rs 850-crore port is promoted by Gujarat Chemical Port Terminal Company Ltd, a joint venture between the Gujarat Government and Indian Petrochemicals Corporation Ltd (IPCL), according to an official release here.

The port will enable the promoter companies and the chemical industries to access their raw material requirements at competitive international rates.

The Dahej chemical port operation was also expected to de-congest the near-by Kandla, Mumbai and the Jawaharlal Nehru ports, the release said.
