BAL heart lies in India
MUMBAI, Jan.22
Bajaj Auto, it would seem, both gains and loses due to its dominant position in the Indian 2&3-wheeler market.
Mr Rahul Bajaj says excluding China-based manufacturers, BAL might be the lowest cost producer of 2-wheelers worldwide.
While this may raise the spectre of a brand capable of nurturing a global presence, Mr Bajaj points out that the company's cost advantages are naturally lost when it manufactures away from Indian shores.
``By producing elsewhere, BAL's costs will only increase, not reduce,'' he said replying to a question on reported business plans in Brazil. - Our Bureau
