Kochi lorry agents to back strike

Our Bureau

KOCHI, Nov. 1

THE Cochin Lorry Agents Association has extended its support to the proposed nation-wide strike called by the All-India Motor Transport Corporation on November 3 in protest against the fuel price hike.

In a release issued here, the association President, Mr P.K. Alavikutty, said that the hike in diesel prices would result in the increase in prices of essential commodities and a consumer State such as Kerala could not afford to withstand it.

Due to various problems, the transport sector was slowly becoming sick and it had to shift the financial burden on the operators. The association demanded the authorities to roll back the prices with immediate effect.
