Roadways States - Andhra Pradesh Integration of Metro, BRTS mooted Our Bureau Hyderabad, Jan. 13 The Chairman of Environment Pollution (Protection & Control) Authority (EPCA), Dr Bhure Lal, on Thursday suggested that the Hyderabad Metro Rail project should be integrated with the proposed Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) to provide better transport facilities in the city. Speaking to newspersons after a meeting with officials of APSRTC, Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) and Pollution Control Board, Dr Lal said the EPCA would not allow any conflict of interest between the concepts of Metro Rail and BRTS. “We do not want the two to work against each other and instead want officials sit together and prepare a plan to integrate both,” he said. He felt there was a need for a reliable, fast and efficient transport system in the city and in absence of which the pollution levels would increase and travel speed take a dip. “We want to discourage use of private vehicles and reduce pollution,” Dr Lal said.
