Trade & Labour Unions Kochi port unions to boycott Israeli cargo, ships Our Bureau Kochi, June 22 Trade unions in Kochi port have decided to boycott all the Israeli import cargo and the Israeli ships calling at the port in protest against the siege of Gaza by Israeli forces. Trade union leaders said the boycott would continue till the siege was withdrawn. However, the leaders clarified that there would not be any blockade on export cargo from the Kochi port to that country as there were exports of tea, coffee and spices from here. The blockade is part of a worldwide protest being carried out by various international organisations against Israel. Sources in the shipping fraternity said the boycott would not have any serious impact as far as the Kochi port is concerned because the port handled limited cargo, such as machinery from Israel, once in a while.
