New shipping service from Tuticorin port

Kolkata, March 1

A new international container shipping service, connecting both the east and west coasts of India with Jebel Ali (Dubai), was launched at Tuticorin port on Monday.

The service, to be operated by Caravel Lines twice a month, will have the port rotation of Tuticorin-Jebel Ali-Mundra-Cochin- Tuticorin. The maiden vessel, MV Caravel Pride, with the capacity of 580 TEUs, made its first call at the port's container terminal run by PSA Sical on Monday in the presence of Mr G.J. Rao, Chairman of Tuticorin Port Trust, according to a press release.
