HML bags KSRTC bus terminal deal

Harrisons Malayalam Ltd (HML) has bagged the contract for the construction of a central bus station of Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) at Thiruvananthapuram by Kerala Transport Development and Financial Corporation.
HML will undertake the civil, structural and electrical engineering contract works of the project which will cost Rs 50.28 crore.
The building will have 12 floors with an area of 3.5 lakh sq. ft., designed according to international standards based on Green building technology with modern facilities.
The construction is scheduled to be completed in 14 months.
HML, a plantation major also one among the oldest engineering companies in the State, had completed rojects at Cochin International Airport, Technopark, Kinfra, Calicut and Mysore Airports to name a few. “We are very happy to have bagged this prestigious contract and we feel proud to be able to play a pivotal role in the construction of the modern land-mark building in the State Capital,” Mr Pankaj Kapoor, Managing Director, HML, said.
The ground floor of the bus terminal will house the bus bay, passenger platform, terminal facilities that include office, enquiry, ticketing etc. among other things, central lobby and commercial area.
The first floor will house commercial area and central lobby; the second floor, in addition to the space for shops and central lobby, will have facilities for parking cars and two wheelers.
The third floor will house a convention centre and food court in addition to central lobby.
Floors from fourth onwards will have areas for setting up offices. The building will be equipped with speed elevators, lifts and will be centrally air-conditioned. Every floor will be equipped with basic amenities and rest areas. The boundary wall and the sewage area slabs will also be constructed by HML.
Kumar Group, one of the largest design consultancy firms in Kerala is the design consultant of this project.
The project would be completed using most modern technology and machinery before the scheduled time, Mr George Sebastian, Chief Manager (Project Division) HML said.
