Hyderabad, Nov. 26 Premier Ltd is all set to re-launch its diesel van Sigma and 1.5 tonne light commercial vehicle (LCV) Roadstar with engine upgrades and improved suspension, along with the roll-out of the recently unveiled compact sports utility vehicle Rio, in December.

“Both the Sigma and the Roadstar will conform to new emission norms and also feature improved suspension, designed on customer feedback,” said Mr Atul Akolkar, General Manager, Premier Ltd.

Announcing here on Thursday the launch of the Rio in South India, Mr Akolkar said the vehicle will be sold initially in the eastern and southern regions. After strengthening its dealer network, the company plans to take the vehicle to the North and the East. It plans to increase the dealer network from the present 30 to 75 by the fiscal end.

Flexible plant

“We have created an extremely flexible plant, which will enable us to roll out all the three — the Sigma, the Roadstar and the Rio — from the same assembly line,” he said.

“Within days of releasing an advertisement in Gujarat, we received excellent response for the recently unveiled Rio. We believe that there is demand for compact SUVs with diesel engine and the Rio has all the attributes that fit the requirement,” he said.

Referring to two of its other divisions, Mr Akolkar said that the company has managed a turnaround and now has revenues of Rs 300 crore from all the three divisions, including automobiles, machine tools and engineering.
