Ranbaxy enters protein supplements market with ‘Revitalite’

Our Bureau

New Delhi, Aug. 12 Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd has made an entry into the protein supplements market with the launch of ‘Revitalite’. The protein supplements market in India is growing at 6 per cent a year, and is currently valued at Rs 250 crore.

High quality supplement

There are two similar products from Amway and Wockhardt but Ranbaxy has claimed that Revitalite offers the highest quantity and quality of protein in each serving compared with existing brands. Ranbaxy’s product is priced at Rs 490 for a 200 gm pack, which makes it the cheapest in the market.

Revitalite, marketed by Ranbaxy’s Global Consumer Healthcare division, has been introduced in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi, Patna, Jalandhar, Jaipur and Kochi; it will be introduced in phases in other urban markets. The product will be available with leading chemists.

Providing variety

Mr Atul Sobti, CEO & MD, Ranbaxy, said, “Ranbaxy has entered the high quality protein supplements market, keeping in mind the growing demand for this category. Our product, Revitalite, comes at an affordable price, and is an excellent option for the entire family. It will certainly address the problem of protein deficiency that impacts all age groups in our country.” Revitalite is similar to the world’s largest selling soy protein formulation and it can be easily mixed with favourite foods and beverages providing variety and choice to consumers.

Ranbaxy is a key player in the nutritional supplement market through its brand Revital.

Ranbaxy Global Consumer Healthcare (RGCH) was established in October 2002 to promote consumer healthcare brands. The major brands from RGCH include Revital (nutritional supplement), Volini (pain-relieving gel), Chericof (cough syrup) and Pepfiz (digestive).
