Cars Corporate - Outlook DaimlerChrysler plans to drive in CL-class car Mayur N. Shah
If international prices are any indication (the UK price tag of £73,700 plus local taxes levied), the company would price the super luxurious coupe on Indian roads at Rs 1.40 crore and above. The final price will be higher based on the personal choice of exterior, interior aesthetics and optional equipment. The new CL-class will be the latest addition to the CBU portfolio of M-class, CLS, SLK, SL-class, the S range of models (S 500 & S 320 Cdi) and the Maybach. Similar to the SL range, the CL-class would have limited sales, but will play the role of a brand ambassador for cutting edge technology and design the company is globally known for. The two-door coupe is the culmination of 50 years of coupe tradition that was formally launched at the Paris Motor Show 2006.
`Best sales'
Introduction of the new model comes at a time when CBU sales have been the best-ever in 2006 at 200 units (inclusive of all the models), since the company started CBU sales in 2002. Maximum sales were reported in the M-class, CLS range followed by the SLK. Moreover, with the introduction of luxury sports vehicle brands like Porsche, Audi and Bentley in the country, many prospective buyers are looking at that niche and exclusiveness that money can buy.
