Mumbai Feb 8 Pharma major Pfizer proposes to move the maintenance of some 2,000 applications to India this year, said Mr Jonathan White, Senior Vice-President, Worldwide Technology and Business Innovation.

Speaking on the sidelines of the Nasscom Leadership Summit 2007, Mr White said the company already has IT engagements with Indian vendors such as Satyam, Tata Consultancy Services and Wipro. Genpact offers business process outsourcing (BPO) services to Pfizer.

"We are targeting to move the maintenance of a minimum of 500 applications to India this year, while the maximum limit would be 2,000," he said. The maintenance of these applications would be handed over to best-of-breed vendors, which may include new vendors apart from the existing ones, he added.

. "For the next two years, we plan to save around $300 million more by moving the maintenance of applications to India," he added.
