Pillai is new Commerce Secretary

Mr G.K. Pillai, a 1972 batch IAS officer of the Kerala cadre, has taken over as Commerce Secretary. He succeeds Mr S.N. Menon who superannuated today as Secretary, Ministry of Commerce and Industry. Prior to his elevation, Mr Pillai was the special secretary in the Department of Commerce and was dealing with matters pertaining to the World Trade Organisation, regional and multilateral trade relations and UN Conference on Trade & Development. He is also the Chairman of the Board of Approvals on special economic zones and export-oriented units.
