A new committee has been set up by the Ministry of Mines to examine the recommendations made in the Hoda committee report on mining. According to sources, the recommendations of this new committee would decide the directions of the National Mining Policy.
The Anwarul Hoda committee set up by the Planning Commission had submitted its report last month after hearing all the interested groups the Central and State Governments and the Government agencies. It had taken two years to submit the report.
It was announced several times that the recommendations of the Hoda panel would form the long-awaited National Mining Policy. Now the Ministry has notified the constitution of a 9-member committee to be headed by a joint secretary to study the recommendations of the High Level Committee (Hoda committee) and to advise whether to accept the recommendations or to suggest whether modification is required in the National Mining Policy, sources said.
