Our Bureau

Chennai, Aug. 21

Makkal TV, a satellite TV channel promoted by Makkal Tholai Thodarpu Kuzhumam that is to be launched on September 6, has made uplinking arrangements with Sun TV, according to Mr Venu Sanjeevi, Chairman, Makkal TV. The channel would cover news, news analysis and current affairs but not film-based content, Mr Sanjeevi said. He said that the decision was taken based on a survey, which showed that there is great opportunity for non-film based content. The channel would broadcast an occasional award-winning movie or interview a film actor or director but the emphasis would be on knowledge enhancing content, he said. About 60 per cent of the content would be on farming, Mr Sanjeevi said. Times Now has offered to share content for a fee with Makkal TV, he pointed out.
