RBI exempted from service tax

New Delhi , June 1

The Centre has exempted the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) from payimg service tax on any taxable services provided by the central bank.

Moreover, service tax exemption has also been given for all taxable services provided to the RBI, for which the central bank was hitherto liable to pay service tax.

The Government has also said through an executive order that taxable services received by RBI in India from outside the country would not attract service tax. Currently, 96 services are under service tax net.
