Hero Honda sales up 34%

Hero Honda on Thursday reported a 34 per cent rise in sales in May at 3.03 lakh units as against 2.26 lakh units in the same month last year.

The sales in the domestic market stood at 2,93,758 units during May this year, while exports stood at 9,908 units.

Bajaj Auto

Mumbai: Bajaj Auto Ltd (BAL) on Thursday reported 25 per cent growth in total sale of two and three wheelers for May 2006, to 223,455 units up from 178,645 units during the corresponding period pervious year.

Two wheeler sales were up 23 per cent to 199,426 units (162,753 units) including 27 per cent rise in sale of motorcycles to 196,120 units (153,975 units). Three wheeler sales moved up 51 per cent to 24,029 units (15,892 units).

Over April-May 2006, BAL's total 2&3 wheeler sales gained 27 per cent to 435,578 units (343,690 units). Two wheeler sales moved up 26 per cent to 390,390 units (310,345 units) including 32 per cent rise in motorcycle sales to 384,638 units (291,833 units). Three wheeler sales for the period increased 36 per cent to 45,188 units (33,345 units).

Exports for May gained 107 per cent to 32,179 units (15,540 units) while the same for April-May was up 85 per cent to 63,894 units (34,547 units).

Shares of BAL moved down by 4.65 per cent to Rs 2,617.15 on the BSE.

TVS Motor

Chennai: TVS Motor Company has reported a 23 per cent rise in motorcycle sales in May 2006, selling 78,271 units compared with 63,585 units sold in May 2005.

Significant growth in motorcycles boosted overall two-wheeler sales last month, which stood at 1,24,678 units against 1,06,914 units in May 2005, a growth of 17 per cent.

On the export front, TVS Motor exported 8,552 units, "its highest ever'', in May 2006recording a growth of 36 per cent compared to the corresponding period last year.
