Outlook Industry & Economy - Cinema `CPTs would boost audiovisual sector' Our Bureau
The cost-competitive post-production and animation sectors of the Indian audiovisual industry would stand to gain, the report said. All avenues, including getting into more bi-lateral co-production treaties with countries that have a strong audiovisual industry, must be explored to give impetus to the industry. "The ratification process for the Indo-Italian and Indo-UK CPTs must be expedited," the report said. Enumerating the benefits of co-production treaties, it said that international filmmakers would be encouraged to pool their creative, artistic, technical, financial and marketing resources with their Indian counterparts. More Indian locales would be utilised even for non-India specific projects, thereby generating employment and encouraging local industries.
