Mangalore , Oct. 18

MR Rahul Gandhi, Congress MP, is on a private visit to Karnataka to study the rural development model of the Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (SKDRDP) at various places in Dakshina Kannada district on Tuesday.

According to SKDRDP sources, Mr Gandhi visited more than 10 project sites of SKDRDP at Moodbidri and Belthangady towns in Dakshina Kannada district.

After studying the SKDRDP model, Mr Gandhi might consider implementing it in Amethi and Rai Bareli areas with the help of the Rajiv Gandhi Charitable Trust, they said. The rural development model of SKDRDP envisages utilising the natural and human resources in the villages for the progress of villagers. SKDRDP - which has a presence in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada districts of coastal Karnataka - has also introduced cost-effective and sustainable means for development of agriculture.
