THE Central Pulp and Paper Research Institute will collaborate with a Korean university to outsource technology for processing pulp to achieve a cleaner manufacture by bringing down the load of effluents from the paper industry.
The institute will enter into an MoU with the Chungbuk National University's Department of Wood and Paper Science.
This will facilitate the former to obtain the know-how from the Korean university on biotechnology and plantation to serve the Indian paper industry, according to Dr A.G. Kulkarni, Director of the institute.
Central Pulp and Paper Research Institute has been emphasising the use of enzymes in pulp processing as part of chlorine-free production technology.
Talking to press-persons on the sidelines of `Indian Paper 2005', the international conference on pulp and paper industry here on Friday, Mr Kulkarni said his institute had identified 50 major paper units which were keen on using enzyme-based pulp processing.
