Outsourcing Sutherland to open centre in Manila Our Bureau
Chennai , May 4 SUTHERLAND Global Services, a US-based customer management company in the business process outsourcing (BPO) industry, is setting up a centre in Manila. The centre is scheduled to be operational next month, employing over 500 professionals initially.With over 10,000 employees worldwide, Sutherland manages operations on behalf of global clients in 14 locations in the US, Canada and India. Mr Dilip Vellodi, Chairman and CEO, Sutherland, told Business Line that manpower in Manila would rise to 1,000 within 12 months. The first client is a global financial service major, but Sutherland would only be servicing their European operations. The Manila centre would be a combination of transaction processing and back-office processing and `related service,' he said. According to Mr Vellodi, the average cost of operating in the Philippines was 15 per cent higher than in India, but "the infrastructure is very robust in the Philippines."
