New Delhi , March 9

THE trading community on Wednesday threatened to go on a four-day nationwide bandh from March 29 if the States do not accede to their demand for putting off the implementation of the value-added tax (VAT) regime.

"We will hold a 96-hour all India bandh from March 29. All shops including medical stores will remain closed,'' the Akhil Bharathiya Udyog Vyapar Mandal President, Mr Sandeep Bansal, told presspersons after its symbolic one-day strike today.

Cautioning the Government that implementation of VAT would result in inflation, Mr Bansal urged the State Governments not to implement the new tax regime.
