Hyderabad , March 3

NATCO Pharma Ltd (NPL) has announced the launch of Rizatriptan tablets in 5 mg and 10 mg dosage under the brand name Ritza.

In a press release here on Thursday, the company said Rizatriptan is a new generation anti-migraine drug and is considered more effective than the traditional triptans.

The total migraine market in the country is substantial and is growing at 25 per cent per annum. Rizatriptan has a very fast onset of actions and provides immediate relief from migraine, the company said.

It is also superior to other traditional anti-migraine medicines as its bio-availability is far higher resulting in faster absorption, it said.

According to the company, a 10 mg tablet of Rizatriptan is equipotent to a 100 mg tablet of Sumatriptan, the traditional anti-migraine drug.

The company has priced Ritza competitively at around Rs 30 for a 10 mg tablet and at around Rs 20 for a 5 mg tablet, cheaper than the other brands available in the market.
