Railways ICF plans Rs 47-cr expansion project Our Bureau
Chennai , Feb. 27 THE Integral Coach Factory here is implementing an expansion plan to manufacture 101 rakes (each rake has nine coaches) of dual voltage EMUs (electric multiple units) for Mumbai Rail Vikas Corporation. To meet this order, ICF will undertake an expansion project, including new machinery and additional infrastructure, in the factory at a cost of Rs 47 crore, according to an ICF press release. As part of this project Mr Shivendra Kumar, General Manager, ICF, laid foundation stone for construction of new shed on line VIII of main assembly shop in ICF's furnishing division. The estimated project cost is Rs 2.48 crore and work is likely to be completed by December, the release says. Mr Kumar also laid foundation stone for provision of 10-tonne gantry crane in bays III and IV of partition frame assembly in shell division. The project cost is Rs 1.23 crore and expected to be completed by February 2006. He also laid the foundation stone to expand bays III, IV and V by 80 feet in sidewall assembly shop of shell division. This project is estimated to be around Rs 70 lakh and likely to be completed by January 2006, the release says.
