An anti-labour stance

This is with reference to the article titled "Pension needs more attention" (Business Line, November 18). Though the Employees' Pension Scheme, 1995 is subscriber-friendly, a recent decision of the Central Government has made it anti-labour.

Earlier, the contribution received, in respect of workers who have less than six months service, were returned with interest to the respective workers.

However, the Central Government has recently notified that those workers who have less than six months of service are not eligible for Pension benefits (including withdrawal of the contributions made by them to the Pension Fund).

In other words, workers who terminate their services before six months of joining have to forgo their contributions to the Pension Fund.
