New Delhi , Oct 20

AERENS Goldsouk International on Wednesday announced the launch of Gold Souk, an exclusive jewellery mall at Gurgaon, and said it plans nine more such gold malls across the country in the first phase of expansion.

With each mall needing up to Rs 50 crore investment, the company intends to put in up to Rs 500 crore over the next two years, the Chairman, Mr Surender Gupta, told newspersons here.

Also, plans are afoot to sell the concept of a one-stop gold jewellery mall overseas, especially in the US, the UK, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal.

The mall in Gurgaon will bring several jewellers under one roof but not all jewellery sold at the Souk will be hallmark. "We will offer the consumer high quality jewellery at the Souk but since hallmarking has not been made mandatory by the government, not all jewellery would come with this quality seal. It depends upon each jeweller on whether he has hallmarked jewellery to offer," said the company President, Mr G.S. Pillai.

Some of the jewellers at the Souk include Dubai's Alukkas; M P Jewellers and B C Sen from Kolkata; Classic Diamonds from Mumbai besides Notandas & Sons, Bishan Dayal & Sons from Cuttuck, Talwar Jewellers from Chandigarh and Ratan Chand Jwala Prasad from Delhi.
