Textile trade team for US

Our Bureau

Mumbai , Oct. 17

MEMBERS of the cotton and textile industry are due to visit the US between October 17 and 26, to meet leading US trade associations and the importing community there to familiarise them with the capabilities of the Indian cotton textile industry in meeting the US market's needs.

The visit of the trade delegation is a follow-up to the study commissioned by Texprocil to survey the potential of increasing India's exports of cotton textile products to the US, especially after the quotas are phased out from January 1.

The delegation includes Mr B.K. Patodia, Chairman, Texprocil, and Mr Prem Malik, Deputy Chairman, and exporters of yarn, fabrics and made-ups. The visit is intended to make US importers appreciate the changing profile of the Indian textile industry, the building up of large capacities and the constant endeavours of its producers to improve quality to meet rising expectations.
