Hyderabad , June 28

AGILENT Technologies, the $6.1 billion technology solutions provider, is bullish on the Asia-Pacific aerospace and defence markets that are particularly growing at a CAGR (compounded annual growth rate) of about 15 per cent as against global industry growth of 8 per cent per annum.

It has lined up a series of test and measurement solutions for the mixed signal processing and digital applications.

The Market Segment Manager, Agilent Technologies, Mr Richard Yang, and the company's Marketing Manager, Mr Shankar Roy Chowdhury, told Business Line that there is demand for test and measurement solutions shifting from analog to digital signal processing. This calls for significant investments for defence and aerospace industry handling the entire life cycle management from design, manufacture to deployment.

"With these new breed of technology applications, we are able to offer solutions for R&D projects with connected solutions that integrate hardware, software and Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools. This means defence establishment are taking to concurrent engineering that require new digital technologies," they explained on the sidelines of a closed-door industry interaction with defence and space-related corporations and agencies.

Mr Yang said: "A lot of this testing is now done for various space-related applications which is a cross over between analog and digital domain to bring in new and more efficient products. With the spectrum too going up from 18-giga hertz frequency in analog to 44 giga hertz in digital processing, this calls for new development tools and testing and measurement solutions. This meeting with defence and aerospace experts is aimed at providing such solutions."

Mr Chowdhury said: "Since we are in the business where we work with experts in the space-related technologies, we have to be ahead of what people want. Unless we manage to do so, those who work in research and development projects would find test and measurement a challenging task."

"By working closely with industry participants, and before the launch of new solutions, we interact with them to both familiarise the new products as also take their feedback for further development," he added.
