Inter-State Council reconstituted

THE Government has reconstituted the Inter-State Council (ISC), with the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, as its Chairman.

The other members of the council, according to an official press release here, are the Home Minister, Mr Shivraj Patil, the Finance Minister, Mr P. Chidambaram, the Agriculture Minister, Mr Sharad Pawar, the Railway Minister, Mr Lalu Prasad, the Road Transport and Highways Minister, Mr T.R. Baalu, the Law Minister, Mr H.R. Bhardwaj, the Defence Minister, Mr Pranab Mukherjee, the Human Resource Development Minister, Mr Arjun Singh, the Water Resources Minister, Mr Priya Ranjan Dasmunshi and the Chemicals and Fertilisers Minister, Mr Ram Vilas Paswan.

The Standing Committee of the ISC was also reconstituted, with the Home Minister, Mr Shivraj Patil, as its Chairman.

Other members of the Standing Committee of the ISC are Mr Chidambaram, Mr Bhardwaj, Mr Prasad, Mr Pawar and Mr Baalu.

The State representatives of the committee include Chief Ministers: (West Bengal) Mr Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee; (Assam) Mr Tarun Gogoi, (Rajasthan) Ms Vasundhara Raje; (Jammu and Kashmir) Mr Mufti Mohammed Sayeed; (Uttar Pradesh) Mr Mulayam Singh Yadav; (Kerala) Mr A.K. Antony; (Andhra Pradesh) Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy; (Orissa) Mr Navin Patnaik; and (Gujarat) Mr Narendra Modi.
