Letters EU expansion
This refers to "A May Day with a difference" (Business Line, May 17). The integration and, of course, the recent expansion of the EU, have valuable lessons for India in strengthening regional cooperation the South Asia. Recent studies reveal that the combined official reserves of Japan, Asean, China, India and South Korea is about $800 billion, which is much larger than those of the US and the EU put together. Thus, there is hope for the formation of the South Asian economic community provided the major economies of the region, especially, take the lead and provide a practicable roadmap for the formation of an economic community in the line of EU. C. Ramesh, Keeramangalam
