Dalmia Consumer Care forays into SAARC

Our Bureau

New Delhi , April 27

TERMED as an alternative to paan masala and gutkha, Chabaaza, a tobacco-free paan flavour gumlet from Dalmia Consumer Care has now been introduced in Bhutan, thus beginning its journey in the SAARC countries.

According to the company, the product has met with success since its launch four months ago in India.

The first international breakthrough comes from Bhutan.

Bhutan is the country that is recognised for being the first in the world to ban all forms of tobacco usage, the company said. Chabaaza is said to be the world's first tobacco-free pan flavour gumlet that provides an alternative to the dangerous pan masala and gutka chewing practice, so common to India and the subcontinent.

According to Mr Sudershan Banerjee, Managing Director, Dalmia Consumer Care, "Our intent is to address the rising menace of oral cancer worldwide.

Chabaaza paan- flavour gumlets are the first in a series brought out by Dalmia Consumer Care to address this menace."

All set for venturing other overseas destinations, Dalmia Consumer Care is fast ramping up production 20 times to meet rising demand and fulfil orders, both domestic and overseas.

According to the company, the tobacco-free chewing practice does not produce any cuts or burns, which ultimately leads to several diseases of the mouth including Oral Submucous Fibrosis (OSM), a precancerous condition or oral cancer, he said.

Further, Chabaaza contains no supari (areca nut) or other carcinogenic substitutes such as gambier and magnesium carbonate.
