Performance Hero Honda sales cross two-million mark in a year Our Bureau
New Delhi , April 1 HELPED by new model launches, Hero Honda today announced that it has achieved a new sales record of over two million motorcycles in a single year (2003-04). The company sold 20,70,157 motorcycles during the year, a jump of 23 per cent over previous year sales of 16,77,537 motorcycles. In March, the company sold 1,92,181 motorcycles, a growth of 66 per cent as compared with sales recorded during the corresponding month last year (1,15,722 units). The company further said in a statement that its marketshare has improved by three per cent to 47 per cent in 2003-04. The company had launched five models last year including the entry-level CD-Dawn; Splendor Plus and Passion Plus with enhanced styling; premium sports bike, Karizma; and the restyled Ambition 135. Commenting on Hero Honda's performance, Mr Brijmohan Lall, Chairman, Hero Honda Motors Ltd, said, "This new world record of selling 2 million motorcycles exemplifies the potential of the company and the unmatched equity of the Hero Honda brand. It is pleasing to note that the company performed equally well in all the four zones of the country - a unique strength." The company also increased its exports by 72 per cent in the year, selling 39,255 bikes.
