Tea Fair demand for CTCs at Kochi sale Our Bureau
Kochi , Nov. 9 A FAIR general demand persisted for almost all varieties of tea at the Kochi tea auction. Of the quantity of 10,11,000 kg on offer in the dust category, fair general demand prevailed among good liquoring CTCs. AVT witnessed steady to firm trend, others tended to ease and orthodox dusts were easier. The best CTC varieties commanded prices between Rs 48 and Rs 66, medium CTC realised Rs 37-47 and poorer type were quoted Rs 25-28. Highgrown BOPD fetched prices between Rs 100 and Rs 106, medium BOPD realised Rs 30-35. Secondaries were quoted at Rs 25-29. The leaf sale also witnessed a fair general demand and the quantity on offer was 371,000 kg. Orthodox leaf grades were lower by Rs 2 to Rs 4 , CTCs easier by Rs1-2. Buyers for the CIS region and other exporters operated on orthodox leaf grades with less strength. The best Nilgiri varieties commanded prices between Rs 35 and Rs 55.
