THE Indian and Pakistani business community has identified several core areas where more business can be done between the two countries. This emerged after the first meeting of the India-Pakistan Chief Executives Officers (CEOs) Forum here on Sunday.
The group has identified four key areas, including trade and investment, manufacturing, services including health, education and entertainment, and communication for building positive perceptions that are to be taken up for discussion by the Forum.
Commenting on the proposed initiatives on `Trade and investment,' the leader of the Pakistani delegation, Mr Amin Hashwani, said the Forum underlined the need for increased trade and business relations between the two countries. Multinational corporations were unable to use India and Pakistan as manufacturing bases, and this had kept foreign investments in the region at a low level, he said.
Mr Hashwani said that there were technical skills on both sides that complemented each other, which were largely unutilised and not leveraged to their full potential. He emphasised on the fact that air and rail links need to be restored without any delay.
