People Logistics - Airlines IA's Sunil Arora to hold fort at Air India too Our Bureau
New Delhi , Aug. 1 IN a move that could lead to greater possible synergy between the two State-owned airlines, Air India and Indian Airlines, the Government on Friday appointed the IA Chairman and Managing Director, Mr Sunil Arora, as the Managing Director of the Maharaja. The official order, which has been cleared by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), states that "Mr Arora is to hold additional charge as MD of AI for a period of six months from Friday or till such time as a regular appointment is made, whichever is earlier." Interestingly, Mr Arora is already a member of the AI board. The appointment of Mr Arora has come as a surprise. Till late last night, the name of the Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Mr Raghu Menon, was being mentioned. Senior Government officials had late on Thursday indicated that the Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Mr Rajiv Pratap Rudy, had cleared the name of Mr Menon before emplaning for Srinagar.
