IT Training ECIT to set up training centre in Ernakulam Our Bureau
KOCHI, May 26 ELECTRONICS Corporation of India Ltd (ECIT) is planning to start its own centre in Ernakulam to impart high-end, career-oriented courses in embedded software such as VLSI, CAD, CAM and CAE, which are in great demand in the US. ECIT, which started its operations in 1998 in the State, had currently 42 ECIT centres and is planning to increase 10 more centres in this financial year. The company had already established its presence in the IT education sector in the State thereby providing complete solutions such as hardware, software, peripherals and educational deliveries for classes VI to XII, the officials said. As part of the expansion plans in the State, ECIT is targeting 5,000 institutions in the next one to two years. It had also tied up with leading software developers and vendors like Microsoft for educational software and expand the base by way of more business associates. As part of establishing IT education service in overseas countries, ECIT had already entered into an MoU for opening up of ECIT centres in three provinces of northern China. ECIT has successfully implemented IT education in 221 schools of Himachal Pradesh, 35 schools in the National Capital Territory of New Delhi. It has developed a core competency in the area of school education and is now capable of implementing IT education in schools of any State, the officials said. In the corporate training sector, ECIT is also empanelled by the Finance Ministry to provide training to the employees on computers for those appearing for various examinations. It has also been awarded the opportunity for imparting IT training in departments such as Railways, Income-Tax, Central Water Commission, DAE establishments and several private sector organisations.
